It's Saturday...

... so it's football.  Read as: the day where blogging takes a backseat.  I just finished watching Moogie's Hawgs pull out a cliff-hanger over those Dawgs with a (literal) last minute touchdown to break a tie with 15 seconds left on the clock.  This game just MIGHT turn out to be the best game of the day, as the outcome was in doubt from the middle of the third quarter to the final play.

So now it's on to one of three snoozers... ranked teams against unranked opponents with the proverbial snowball's chance of winning... either 'Bama - Duke, Huskers - Washington, or Gators - Vols*.  Or likely surf between all three.  I'd like to watch AF - Oklahoma, which would be another blow-out (yet one could always HOPE for an upset that would do my heart great good), but that game isn't being televised.

So... we'll mark time until the Irish invade East Lansing late this afternoon.

*Q: Why did Tennessee choose orange as their team color?
A: You can wear it to the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday, and picking up trash along the highways the rest of the week.

  1. Not much of a college ball fan, but I am watching the Huskies/Huskers tilt right now. Not too lopsided so far.

  2. Cliffhanging nailbiter indeed! I'm glad I was the designated driver to the watch party or I'd have a honey of a headache right about now! What a game. Thanks for sporting that handsome Hog!

  3. It is now, officially, lopsided.

  4. I'm watching Fla - Tennessee, which isn't as much of a blow-out as I thought it might be. But it IS a blow-out... Fla just scored.

As is usual, there are in-game updates... so I'm aware Nebraska's pulled away.

Moogie: Yours was a great game, indeed, speaking as someone who had no vested interest in the outcome. Very entertaining, tho!

  5. Someone is happy at my mother's house, and it isn't my mother. LOL! Sad Tenn lost. Then Texas tech had to lose too. And floyd, well, we had too many players sick this week and didn't have the 8 needed to even start our game and had to forfeit. At least my girls are winning in volleyball.

  6. Watched as much football as I could yesterday -- great weather for it.
But Maryland lost, so that was annoying!!

Any comments, Buck, on the outcome of Notre Dame game? Just like the last game, good game to see -- if you don't have a favorite in the game.

  7. Missed all the games. Watched the recaps.

You probably saw this, but if not, you can watch almost any game you want on the web. http://andysredneckramblings.blogspot.com/2010/09/two-dogs-tutorial.html

Sorry about your Irish. Back to work in about an hour. Catch ya' on the flip-flop.

  8. Jenny: I saw a lil bit of Tech's game... when the ND game went to commercial. And did your Mom really think Tennessee had a chance? Wait. I KNOW the answer to that... ;-)

You DON'T want to hear what I said... err... yelled after the last play. No, you don't. I'll just say this: MSU coach Dantonio has got big brass ones.

Yeah, I did see that, Andy. But I'm done with watching sports on streaming video. The buffering gives me a headache. I'm sorry about your weekend, Andy.

  9. We watched TT, of course - until it was too sad to watch.

  10. Well, we can always hope Tennessee would pull it out. Afterall, my dear Gram is looking down from heaven and surely can get the Big Guy to pull some strings for her team, right? Well, maybe the next game. Or season. We're rebuilding, ok.

  11. Lou: Yeah, Tech looked pretty sad from what little I saw.

Jenny: You bring up an interesting point. I'll bet Saturdays in heaven are QUITE interesting. Hell, too. ;-)

  12. Hey Dude, don't be sorry about my weekend. It's just one of them thangs.

Besides, I got farred today anyway. So, next Satidy should be much more enjoyable. It's a heckuva deal. I got farred by God! I'll write about it...

And, I really am sorry about your Irish. As a lifelong Irish hater, it never would have bothered me one bit. But now that I have a bud that has good hopes for them, it's all different.

I guess I was really just "indifferent." In the Ara & Lou years, I actually did kinda pull for them. But when Davie came along, the whole program went to you know where, and when they played my beloved Tigers at the Independence Bowl here in Shreveport, a hatred built that had not so much abated.

But, that was a long time ago, and I really don't hate them anymore. It's just a habit to say "hate," but since I have a buddy that "loves," I shall stop all that and be at the very least indifferent about their losses, and personally sympathetic to their fans...especially the ones that I like a lot.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
